Hello. I’m Elizabeth Teagarden. And, I love big books and research literature. I take the stuff I read and try it out in daily life. I’m curious about conflict: the good, the bad, and the ugly. I have more questions than I have answers.
I am the founder of a conflict management consultancy – The Teagarden Group. For nearly 10 years, my consulting firm has engaged disagreements of all sorts: mostly in the workplace, and often in families and friendships too. Now, conflict is my speciality: teaching, coaching, facilitating, mediating.
I am an Ambassador for the Institute for Economics and Peace. And, I am a Rotarian peace educator. (Please inquire here to book me as a speaker for the 2019 Global Peace Index/Positive Peace Index.)
At heart, I am an avid learner. In fact, I hold a doctorate in Adult Learning, a little known corner of the Education discipline. Fundamentally, I believe humans can learn their way out of just about anything. And, perhaps, given the certainty of continued human conflict – learning is our best and highest hope.
Learning emerges from the study of opposites: conflict … and peace. This blog was born out of a belief that understanding requires depth, time, attention, and effort. To solve the really wicked social problems that plague the planet, we need the pause of long form writing to illuminate possibility.
